Authorized User Tradelines

Authorized User Tradelines FAQs

Interested in authorized user tradelines, but not sure where to start? We’ve compiled a list of our most frequently asked questions so you can decide if they’re right for you.

What Are Tradelines?

A “tradeline” is a financial industry term for a credit account. Any account that appears on your credit report is a tradeline, so the tradelines in your credit report determine your credit score. The word “tradeline” is also commonly used as a shorthand for “authorized user tradeline,” which we will explore in this FAQ page.

What Is an Authorized User?

“Authorized user” refers to someone who is added to a credit account but is not liable for the debt incurred. Often, the history associated with this account is then shown on the authorized user’s credit report. Sometimes family members or colleagues will add each other as authorized users on their credit cards as a way to give them access to their credit lines or to help them build a credit history.

How Do Authorized User Tradelines Work?

Authorized user tradelines work by adding one person to the tradeline of another person. This process allows those who are added as AUs to have a seasoned tradeline on their credit report. When the right people come together, authorized user tradelines can be a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Are Authorized User Tradelines Legal?

Though Tradeline Supply Company, LLC cannot provide legal advice, we can refer to individual government resources and spokespersons who have at times indicated that authorized user tradelines are legal. Tradeline Supply Company’s aim is to provide equal opportunities to those without access to authorized user tradelines. Though many tradelines involve friends and family, our platform allows for a greater network of tradeline exchange.

How Long Does It Take to Appear on My Credit Report?

Our authorized user tradelines can report in as little as 11 days (and even faster in some cases), but it all depends on the individual tradelines and the date of purchase. Each tradeline has its own unique reporting period and corresponding deadline that you must purchase it by in order for us to guarantee that it will post during the next reporting cycle.

Each authorized user tradeline gets reported to credit bureaus around the same time every month. There is usually no more than a 7-day variance on the reporting date, but this all depends on many factors such as how many days are in that month. Sometimes things get delayed when there are bank holidays, as well as general fluctuations in reporting dates.

The way our system works is you must purchase the tradeline by the purchase deadline in order for us to guarantee that it will post in the next reporting cycle. If you purchase the authorized user tradeline after the purchase deadline, then we guarantee the tradeline will post the following month.

As long as you purchase the tradeline by the purchase deadline, then we guarantee it will report by the last day in the reporting period, which is a 7-day window of time each month. That being said, in most cases, it usually reports closer to the beginning of the reporting period.

If you believe you may have a non-posting, please wait until the entire reporting period has passed before contacting us about a refund or exchange. Also, please check to make sure that your credit monitoring service has been updated after the last day of the estimated reporting period.

What Does “Guaranteed to Post” Mean?

We guarantee that your tradelines will post to your credit report or you get your money back. This means that when you choose to purchase an authorized user tradeline from us, you have the peace of mind of knowing that your tradeline is guaranteed to show up on your credit report.
